RMIAN recruits, trains and mentors the volunteer attorneys who accept referred cases for individuals without the resources to hire private attorneys.  To this end, RMIAN conducts one-day training programs once a year.  Colorado CLE, Inc., the Colorado Bar Association’s educational arm, donates the venue and the cost of publicizing the programs (including mailing brochures to over 18,000 lawyers).   Attendees who agree to take at least one pro bono case from RMIAN in the coming year receive a reduced rate.   Presenters at the CLE include RMIAN Board members, private immigration practitioners, Immigration Judges and DHS trial attorneys.  We are particularly proud of our holistic approach to client representation, and the program also includes sections on avoiding retraumatization (presented by a therapist), cultural considerations in working with non-English speakers (presented by a linguistics expert), and acquiring forensic examinations (presented by a physician from Doctors of the World).
