RMIAN has an opening for a full-time Legal Assistant who will work to support RMIAN’s Children’s Program starting in January 2019.
The Children’s Program Legal Assistant will assist RMIAN Children’s Program attorneys in providing direct legal representation in immigration and related State-court proceedings for non-detained immigrant children and families in the Denver Metro Area.
Responding to phone calls to RMIAN’s Hotline and assisting with legal intakes and screenings
Providing support to RMIAN’s attorneys working on immigration legal cases for immigrant youth and families in the Denver Metro Area
Responding to phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing the Children’s Program Attorney calendars
Completing administrative tasks including data entry, scanning and copying documents, mailing, etc.
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree from ABA approved paralegal program preferred
English & Spanish fluency, both written and oral
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task
Experience and comfort working in multicultural environments
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Passion for RMIAN’s mission and commitment to social justice and human rights issues
Experience or background in immigration law strongly preferred
Candidate must pass a federal background check and clearance, and have a driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
