Children's Program Legal Assistant Fellowship Announcement

RMIAN has an opening for a full-time Legal Assistant who will work to support RMIAN’s Children’s Program starting in January 2019.

Position Summary:

The Children’s Program Legal Assistant will assist RMIAN Children’s Program attorneys in providing direct legal representation in immigration and related State-court proceedings for non-detained immigrant children and families in the Denver Metro Area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to phone calls to RMIAN’s Hotline and assisting with legal intakes and screenings

  • Providing support to RMIAN’s attorneys working on immigration legal cases for immigrant youth and families in the Denver Metro Area

  • Responding to phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing the Children’s Program Attorney calendars

  • Completing administrative tasks including data entry, scanning and copying documents, mailing, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree from ABA approved paralegal program preferred 

  • English & Spanish fluency, both written and oral

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Experience and comfort working in multicultural environments

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Passion for RMIAN’s mission and commitment to social justice and human rights issues

  • Experience or background in immigration law strongly preferred

  • Candidate must pass a federal background check and clearance, and have a driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
