We’re Hiring: Development Coordinator

Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN-pronounced “Remain”) provides free immigration legal services and social services to individuals in immigration detention and to children and families throughout Colorado. RMIAN believes that justice for immigrants means justice for all. 

This position is meant for someone who has experience in nonprofit development, who loves both building systems and engaging in the on-the-ground work in order to get the job done efficiently and with a high level of attention to detail. 

The ideal candidate:

  • Is passionate about social justice and has knowledge and experience around immigration legal and social services - this person has worked in a social justice organization and is passionate about RMIAN’s work.

  • Is often described as a “doer” by their colleagues - someone who can be relied on to take a project to completion within the timeline requested, who finds joy in routine tasks that keep the team going and has experience with project management and positively influencing people to get things gone.

  • Is a natural systems builder—this person has a start-up mentality and loves creating systems and structures.

  • Has development experience, including work with fundraising databases and donor acknowledgements, and event coordination or support.

  • Is a great short-form writer and storyteller – they ask questions and listen carefully to capture the details and find the connections that others can relate to and has some experience with translating that information into engaging, short articles, letters, emails, and posts that help drive people to action.

  • Is Full Professional – Native / Bilingual proficient in speaking and writing in Spanish-this person supports the principles of language equity and is committed to supporting inclusive communications. A person bilingual in English and Spanish is a highly preferred skill for the position.

  • Is an organizational whiz. This person excels in handling details and multiple projects running in parallel, methodically creating and working through checklists.

  • Has a desire to learn and grow - this is someone who is eager to build their skills and take on new challenges as they get comfortable with their role.

Responsibilities:

The set of responsibilities outlined here is not a comprehensive list, and will evolve over time, based on the organization’s needs and the strengths of the person hired. Key duties include:

Grant Administration and Writing (30%)

  • Grant writing and reporting (in collaboration with contract grant writer, Executive Director, and other program directors)

  • Grant administration and tracking

  • Helping to identify new grant and funding opportunities.

Systems and Database Management (20%)

  • Oversee donor database and establish related systems, processes, and training for the team.

  • Supervise Development Assistant on timely processing of donations and donor thank you letters.

Donor Communications and Support (20%)

  • Curate content for monthly newsletters and coordinate the process of sending those out, in collaboration with Development Assistant.

  • Lead process for RMIAN’s annual report, in collaboration with Executive Director and Program Directors.

  • Coordinate Colorado Gives Day and end-of-year giving campaign.

  • Work with RMIAN’s Director of Advocacy and Litigation to create content for RMIAN’s social media platforms.

  • Perform website maintenance, in collaboration with other team members.

  • Provide other fundraising communications support as needed.

Events (20%)

  • Leading annual Immigrant Liberty Awards (in collaboration with Development Assistant and ILA committee members)

  • Coordinate other smaller events as capacity allows, such as donor house parties, third-party events, and events with supporters.

Other (10%)

  • Supervision of Development Assistant.

  • Make connections with community groups and potential partners and supporters; participate in RMIAN’s community outreach and education efforts.

Location and Work Requirements

This position is based out of RMIAN’s office located in Westminster, Colorado. RMIAN’s operations are currently operating on a hybrid remote/in-person model requiring at least two days a week of work in RMIAN’s office or other work-related locations. In order to protect our clients and team members, proof of vaccination against COVID-19, or proof of eligibility for exception, is required.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The salary range is between $60,000 and $68,000 per year, with actual salary commensurate with experience. RMIAN offers a phenomenal benefits package, which includes:

  • Generous paid time off with 15 days of vacation in the first year of employment and an additional 2 days for each additional year of employment, 10 sick days, 11 Federal holidays, plus, an annual week-long end of year office closure.

  • Eligibility to participate in RMIAN’s Simple IRA retirement plan (RMIAN matches four percent).

  • Eight-week sabbatical after five years of employment.
